New University Elementary Principal
When school opened in Caddo Parish in August, University Elementary School had a new principal. Kasie Mainiero has worked in Caddo schools for 17 years serving as a kindergarten teacher at University, an instructional coordinator at Forest Hill Elementary, and assistant principal at University.
Ms. Mainiero attended the TSEHA Board Meeting in September to discuss new activities at the school, including a new math and science lab and new extracurricular activities, and our neighborhood’s past problems with the traffic before and after school at University Elementary. For neighbors who live off of Village Green and Galway, the traffic issue has improved. If you live off of Town South Drive there is still a problem getting in and out of the neighborhood. Ms. Mainiero has not stopped working on this problem. It has, at times, been a safety issue as well for the University students.
Before the school year began, parents volunteered time and resources to remodel the front office of the school, with the paint, new flooring, and new logo paid for and installed by parents. Ms. Maineiro’s enthusiasm has also inspired parents and homeowners to pitch in and help to spruce up the campus grounds.
